The HALIO SolutionSense – Analyze – Respond – Repeat

The HALIO solution is designed to Sense sky luminance; Analyze real-time daylight measurements, occupant daylight requests, current window tint states, and energy savings priorities to determine tint level adjustments; then Respond in seconds, tinting or clearing the electrochromic device integrated in each insulate glass unit to just the optimal level for facade at any moment. The repeating Sense-Analyze-Respond process starts with a picture taken by the Sky Camera every 30 seconds, and continuously repeats to stay synchronized with changes in daylight.

HALIO Smart GlassSky Camera

The HALIO Sky Camera senses daylight through an illuminance sensor and HDR camera. The combination of high-resolution images and illuminance sensor data has the effect of placing 8 million pyranometers on the rooftop!

Advanced Image-Based Sensing

  • Measures diffused irradiance in the visible light spectrum
  • 180-degree field-of-view from the camera's horizon looking up at the sky
  • 8-Megapixel CMOS image sensor
  • Captures multiple images and combines them into a High Dynamic Range (HDR) image for analysis
  • Processes photos on the device in great detail from the lightest, brightest areas to the darkest areas of the sky

Cloud Connected

  • Processed HDR images and sensor data are sent to the HALIO Cloud every 30 seconds
  • HALIO’s Control System uses this data to autonomously determine optimal tint levels

Rooftop Installation

  • Designed to withstand harsh outdoor environmental conditions (-40°F to +158°F, -40°C to +70°C)
  • Easily mounts to standard rooftop masts
  • Heated top cap to eliminate snow accumulation
